Welcome to Griffin Music Education
Hello and welcome to my site. My core business is speaking in schools to inspire students and staffs to learn smarter. I speak on a variety of topics and to audiences comprising students of all ages, whole staffs, music staffs, parents and corporate events. During 2016 I have continued to provide music department PD for numerous schools around Australia. I also give full-staff keynotes including'Thrive! Linking Intrinsic Motivation, Mindset, and Metacognition'. You can browse a full list of my school clients in 25 countries. Later this year, my corporate speeches include addressing and performing for a conference of finance professionals in Sri Lanka, and a presentation on self-development and motivation for George Weston Foods. If the occasion permits, I prelude my talk with a virtuoso piano performance, and relate the learning and character traits required in musical accomplishment to broader achievement. I'm returning to the UK in September as keynote speaker for the British Suzuki Asssociation at Keele University, and have a schedule of bookings in schools and for county music services. This includes staff training for Eton College (75 music teachers) about Music and Mindset, of which I am delighted to be returning for the third time as a guest speaker, engagements in continental Europe, and another trip to the Middle East. I was thrilled with the feedback from last year's tour of the UK and Middle East. I aim for continual improvement and view practice and feedback as essential for success. I now have more an 1000 guest speeches under my belt. I still keep my hand in as a choral conductor, and am doing guest conducting for SEISA, Gippsland, and Wilderness, SA. Some of my presentations are open to the public; please contact me should you like to attend. Details of my student presentations, workshops and staff professional development are in the Lectures and Workshops page. I am very pleased with the response to my books. Learning Strategies for Musical Success continues to receive wonderful reviews; you can read these on the page dedicated to it in this site. To order, please email me firstname.lastname@example.org.
As well as 'Learning Strategies for Musical Success' I have three other music education books suitable for a range of age groups. The popular Music and Keyboard in the Classroom is aimed for general music classes within a keyboard laboratory setting. Modern Harmony Method is suitable for more senior students involved in composition, arranging and harmonization. Good news for choral conductors; Bumblebee! Rounds & Warm-ups for Choirs, containing 130 warm-ups and rounds, is now in its second edition. Details of these books are in the Music Education Books section.
Recordings includes a library of school choir and jazz ensemble mp3s, and my own piano recordings. Please consider supporting my new CD's Consolation: Beautiful and Relaxing Piano Classics, and Shimmer: Sparkling Piano Classics. Ideal for newcomers to classical music, it would make a thoughtful but iinexpensive gift. Free resources includes eight ’Great Pianists’ podcasts, five 'Music and Mathematics' podcasts, as well as several music education articles written by me.
